In south korea there s a solar bike path that shields riders from the sun while at the same time generating power from it. The solaroad is the world s first bike path made from solar panels and is a prototype project testing the feasibility of various proposals for smart highways the 72 metre 236 ft path opened in the week of 21 october 2014 and was designed by a consortium of organizations which built the pathway in krommenie netherlands. The path is built of massive lego like modules of solar panels embedded in concrete each with heavy. The project attracted great attention both inside and outside the netherlands and within the first year after the solar bike path opened 300 000 cyclists and scooters rode over it.
